I wouldnt use Kaplan as ive read maybe 5 current (created in the past 2 years) regarding Kaplan's videos and the qbank and they all agree that the videos and bank are outdated and have conflicting and shitty explanations. If I were you id go thru OME videos/notes (or at least a skim of the notes) while going thru uWorld + all 1,200 NBME shelf practice tests (CMS) and once you are done with that maybe try AMBOSS or maybe ExamGuru. 99% of those who offered any advice all said do NOT waste your time on extra banks unless you have mastered uWorld unless you are using those questions during shelf prep.
While we encourage you to learn about each Q-Bank to see which fits your needs. For example, for 3 months including 2 practice tests it would cost you 179 with Kaplan while UWorld would cost you 369 for 3 months with just 1 practice test. That's 3,500 super high yield questions that will undoubtedly take you at least 2 months solid to master.Īgain I havent taken Step 2 so take my advice with a grain of salt but ive read so many opinions on sources for 3rd year and CK that my head is still spinning. Both companies have similar vast Q-Banks however Kaplan is the more cost friendly option at this time. There are 2400 uWorld questions and there are 22 CMS NBME shelf practice test each are 50 questions (total = roughly 1,100) You will find as you start doing questions there are TONS of conflicting sources from OME to uWorld to Step Up To Medicine you will definitely see this and it's super frustrating. HIV is a gigantic super important topic and they couldnt bother to change a word from 2016-2018, literally hte same text. Kaplan hasnt even updated the HIV testing guidelines in their newest text.
Step 2 material is all over the place and tons of shit is very outdated, including Kaplan. Kaplan 2 USMLE Success Academy 3 Pathoma 4 Dr USMLE Step 1 is a test that typically requires multiple steps of reasoning/knowledge in each question ford. From everything Ive read about Step 2, it is a complete waste of time to do any banks before uWorld.
